Favorite songs to cover with kt&tktb

I thought of a whole other group of songs that we cover with the Katie Tracy Band, that are fun to sing and play, and just good in general.

All time favorite:
Hard Times - Eastmountainsouth

Patty Griffin has pretty fantastic lyrics. Here's three.
Rain - Patty Griffin

Heavenly Day - Patty Griffin

Favorite Patty:
Up to the Mountain (MLK tribute) - Patty Griffin

The Gardener - The Tallest Man on Earth

Into The Mystic - Swell Season (originally Van Morrison)

I want to be Norah Jones.
Cold Cold Heart - Norah Jones

And because sometimes we like to channel our inner black woman...
Girl Put Your Records On - Corrinne Bailey Rae

And
If I Ain't Got You - Alicia Keys

In my opinion, we get our best sound on stuff like this:
Leave the Pieces - The Wreckers

And this
Crazy People - The Wreckers

Some fun/ridiculous songs we like to do are:
A mashup of this:
The Scientist - Coldplay

And this:
The Double Rainbow Song - Crazy Guy

Party in the USA - Miley Cyrus
(Sadly, this one is always a hit)

Paper Planes - MIA

And one more random one:

Forgive the commentary

To start: Loving You Is Easy - Ben Rector
This album was the soundtrack to my freshman year, especially Fall semester.
Ben Rector is awesome, and from Tulsa.  Here are a couple of my favorites from the album

Dance With Me Baby - Ben Rector

Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise - The Avett Brothers
I'm sure you've heard this one, but it's my favorite Avett. [which almost rhymes].

I Can Feel A Hot One - Manchester Orchestra
One of the only songs I like from the album.

Unexplainable Stories - Cloud Cult
Another taste of last Fall.  I got this album and the following from some friends I made at the beginning of last fall, who now live on "Fleet Street" with me.  I'm sure you'll meet them at some point.

From The Mouth Of Gabriel - Sufjan Stevens

Too Too Too Fast - Ra Ra Riot
This was one of about 20 songs that I downloaded right before I embarked on a trip to Maine with my parents last summer.  We spent a total of six days on the road, and I think by the time we got back, these twenty songs had been played a good 5-10 times each.

Valerie - Glee Cast
A tribute to my love for Glee.  This one is fun and upbeat, and always gets stuck in my head. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the full video on youtube.  There's some pretty sweet choreography with it, but you'd have to watch the episode on Hulu to see it. Bummer.

Pas de Deux - Peter Illyich Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker
An "intermission" if you will. My favorite movement from a favorite ballet. Though this isn't my favorite choreography, it's still pretty awesome.

Barton Hollow - The Civil Wars
I think The Civil Wars were the band that inspired me to make you a "mix CD" [which then became a blog...?] Here are some highlights from their album "Barton Hollow."

I've Got This Friend - The Civil Wars

Poison & Wine - The Civil Wars

I Dreamed A Dream - Les Miserables
And of course, what would a taste of my musical preferences be without a tribute or two to my favorite musical of all time: Les Miserables.  I covered this song for my Senior recital last Spring, but somehow the footage from that has been lost forever by our video guy. [ugh.]

One Day More - Les Miserables
The final movement from the first act.  I think I cried in this one when I saw it live.
